  • Pull the lever B (if so equipped) located on the side of the luggage area for easy access.

To return the seatback

Raise the seatback until it fully latches into place.

Ensure the seat belts are clear of the latch mechanism before locking the seatback upright.

WARNING

  • Never allow passengers to ride in the cargo area or on folded rear seats. Without proper restraints, the risk of serious injury or death in a collision is greatly increased.
  • Do not allow anyone to ride in an area of the vehicle that is not equipped with seats and seat belts. Make sure every passenger is seated and properly restrained.
  • Never allow more than one person to use the same seat belt.
  • Do not fold down the rear seats if passengers are in the rear seat area or luggage is placed on the rear seats.
    • Ensure the path of the seat is clear before operating it.
    • Keep hands and feet away from moving parts to avoid injury.
  • Head restraints/headrests must be adjusted correctly as they provide essential protection in an accident.

Always reinstall and adjust them properly if they have been removed.

  • If head restraints/headrests are removed, store them securely to prevent injury or damage during sudden braking or a collision.
  • When raising the seatback, confirm it is completely latched. An unsecured seatback can cause injuries in an accident or sudden stop.
  • Secure all cargo properly to prevent shifting or sliding.

Do not stack cargo higher than the seatbacks. In a sudden stop or collision, unsecured items may cause injury.

WARNING

  • After adjusting the seat, gently rock in it to make sure it is fully locked.
  • Do not ride in the vehicle when the seatback is reclined.

This is dangerous because the shoulder belt will not sit properly against your body. In a crash, you may be thrown against it and sustain serious neck or other injuries.

You could also slide under the lap belt and suffer serious internal injuries.

  • For the best protection while driving, keep the seat upright. Sit well back with both feet on the floor and adjust your seat belt properly.
