DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

Sub starter & generator

Signal (terminal) Battery voltage
Threshold Less than 5.5 V, or more than 17.5 V
Diagnosis delay time 1 second or less

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connectors (“B” terminal circuit is open or shorted.)

  • Harness or connectors (Ground circuit is open or shorted.)

  • Fusible link

  • Sub starter & generator

FAIL-SAFE

Stop the operation of sub starter & generator

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Start the engine and let it idle and wait for 1 second or more.

  2. Select “Self diagnosis result” mode of “Sub starter & generator”.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK “B” TERMINAL CONNECTION

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check if “B” terminal is clean and tight.

Is the inspection result normal?

Yes>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair “B” terminal connection.

CHECK FUSIBLE LINK

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check that the following fusible link is not blowing:

    Location Fusible link Capacity
    BATTERY TERMINAL WITH FUSIBLE LINK A 450A

Is the fusible lnk blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the fusible link after repairing the applicable circuit.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK SUB STARTER & GENERATOR “B” TERMINAL VOLTAGE

  1. Disconnect “B” terminal of sub starter & generator.

  2. Check the voltage between the “B” terminal and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT

Check continuity between sub starter & generator harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace sub starter & generator. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.
