Signal (terminal) VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor signal
Threshold The output is abnormal of VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor (S1, S2, S3, S4 , R1, R2 signal)
Diagnosis delay time —

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connectors (VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor harness connector)

  • VCR actuator (built-in VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor)

FAIL-SAFE

Not applicable

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11AF is displayed with the following DTC, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.

Is DTC P11AC, P11AD detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P11AC: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11AD: DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TESTING CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is 12 V or more with ignition switch ON.

YES>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is DTC P11AF detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11AF is displayed with the following DTC, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.

Is DTC P11AC or P11AD detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P11AC: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11AD: DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK VCR CONTROL SHAFT 2 ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect VCR control module and VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between VCR control module harness connector and VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor harness connector.

  4. Check harness for short to power and short to ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK VCR CONTROL SHAFT 2 ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR

Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Replace VCR actuator. Refer to Removal and Installation.
