P11A1 00

VCR motor

(Variable compression ratio motor) 		Diagnosis condition

  • Engine running at idle

  • Engine speed : 4,500 rpm or more
Signal (terminal) —
Threshold When VCR control module judges bad motor rotation, even though VCR control module commands the motor to rotate.
Diagnosis delay time 1 second

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • VCR actuator (built-in VCR motor)

  • Foreign objects interferes with VCR actuator

FAIL-SAFE

Not applicable

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11A1 is displayed with the following DTC, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.

Is DTC P11A0, P11A2, P11A3, P11A4 or P11AB detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P11A0: DTC Description

  • DTC P11A2: DTC Description

  • DTC P11A3: DTC Description

  • DTC P11A4: DTC Description

  • DTC P11AB: DTC Description

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TESTING CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is 12 V or more with ignition switch ON.

YES>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Start engine and warm it up to the normal operating temperature.

  2. Keep the engine speed between 4,500 rpm for at least 2 seconds under no load.

  3. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is DTC P11A1 detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11A1 is displayed with the following DTC, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.

Is DTC P11A0, P11A2, P11A3, P11A4 or P11AB detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P11A0: DTC Description

  • DTC P11A2: DTC Description

  • DTC P11A3: DTC Description

  • DTC P11A4: DTC Description

  • DTC P11AB: DTC Description

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK VCR SYSTEM

With CONSULT

  1. Reconnect VCR control module and VCR actuator harness connector.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. On CONSULT screen, select “ENGINE”>>“Active Test”>>“VCR system”.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Replace VCR actuator. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK VCR MOTOR

Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.
