EGR A control

(EGR "A" Control temperature Too High) 		Diagnosis condition —
Signal (terminal) —
Threshold ECM detects that a signal from EGR temperature sensor is 162 °C (324 °F) or more for 5 seconds under the condition that the EGR volume control valve is operating.
Diagnosis delay time —

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • EGR cooler

  • EGR cooler cooling system

FAIL-SAFE

Fail safe mode Nissan Ariya Vehicle behavior
Device fix mode

  • This mode fixes the electric IVT control actuator and the EVT control solenoid valve in the reference position.

  • A control signals is not transmitted to the EGR volume control valve and the EGR volume control is deactivated.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P04FA is displayed with the following DTC, perform the trouble diagnosis for the applicable DTC.

  • P0401

  • P0402

  • P044A

  • P044E

If applicable DTC detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P0401: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0402: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P044A: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P044E: Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING-1

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TEST CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is 11 V or more at idle.

GO TO 3.

PRECONDITIONING-2

Is “Diagnosis Procedure” of DTC P04FA finished?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Proceed to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Drive the Nissan Ariya vehicle for 5 seconds or more under the conditions below.

    Intake air temperature 5°C (41°F) or more
    Engine coolant temperature 75°C (167°F) or more
    Nissan Ariya Vehicle speed 50 km/h (31 MPH)

  2. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is 1st trip DTC detected?

YES>>

Proceed to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P04FA is displayed with the following DTC, perform the trouble diagnosis for the applicable DTC.

  • P0401

  • P0402

  • P044A

  • P044E

If applicable DTC detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P0401: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0402: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P044A: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P044E: Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK EGR COOLER COOLING SYSTEM

Check EGR cooler cooling system.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK EGR COOLER

Perform inspection as follows:

  • Check the inside of EGR cooler for clogging.

  • Check EGR cooler for damage and water leakage.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.
