Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) system

LATCH system anchor location
Basic information
Your Nissan Rogue includes special anchor points for LATCH-compatible child restraints. This system may also be called ISOFIX. With LATCH, you do not need to use the seat belt unless the combined weight of the child plus restraint exceeds 65 lbs (29.5 kg).
LATCH anchors can be used in either rear outboard seating position or the center rear seating position. Refer to the following section for instructions on installing a child restraint in the center using LATCH.
CAUTION
Store loose LATCH covers (for example, in the console box) to avoid damage or loss.
LATCH lower anchor
WARNING
Failure to follow proper use and installation instructions for child restraints can cause serious injury or death in a sudden stop or collision:
- Use only the LATCH anchor points shown in the illustration for attaching LATCH-compatible child restraints.
Refer to the appropriate sections of this Owner’s Manual for installation details.
- Attach LATCH-compatible child restraints only at the specified locations.
- Inspect lower anchors by inserting your fingers into the anchor area to ensure no obstructions such as seat belt webbing or seat cushion material are covering them.
If anchors are obstructed, the child restraint may not secure properly.
- LATCH anchorages are designed only for child restraint loads. Never attach adult seat belts, harnesses, or other equipment to LATCH anchors.
Improper use can damage the anchors and prevent correct restraint installation, increasing risk of serious injury.
LATCH lower anchor location
LATCH lower anchors are provided in the rear seats. Do not attempt to install child restraints in both the center and left outboard positions simultaneously using the lower anchors.

LATCH lower anchor cover removal
The LATCH lower anchors are located under ISOFIX-labeled covers on the rear seat cushions. Insert a finger and pull to remove the cover.
CAUTION
Store removed LATCH covers safely to avoid damage or loss.
LATCH in the center rear seating position
A fifth LATCH anchor is located between the two outboard anchor pairs. It is designed to be used with the inboard anchor on the driver’s side for installing a child restraint in the center rear position.
These anchors follow standard LATCH spacing of 11.02 in (280 mm).
WARNING
Never attach two CRS connectors to the same LATCH anchor. This may overload the anchor in a collision and increase the risk of serious injury or death.
When installing a CRS in the center using the inboard LATCH anchors, ensure any occupant or CRS in the outboard seats is properly restrained with the seat belt and does not interfere with the center installation. If proper restraint cannot be ensured, use the vehicle seat belt for the center CRS or move the CRS to another seating position.
When installing a CRS in the center, use the seatback recline function to align both sides of the rear seatback to create one even surface. Never install a CRS when one section of the seatback is reclined more than the other, as this creates instability.
Failure to evenly recline the seatbacks before CRS installation can increase the risk of serious injury or death. Recheck CRS installation whenever seatbacks are adjusted.

OK (the seatback recline is aligned)

Not OK (the seatback recline is not aligned)

LATCH webbing-mounted attachment
Installing child restraint LATCH lower anchor attachments
LATCH compatible child restraints include two rigid or webbing-mounted attachments that connect to anchors at specific seating positions in your Nissan Rogue. With this system, you do not have to use a seat belt to secure the child restraint. Check the child restraint for a label indicating LATCH compatibility; this information may also appear in the manufacturer’s instructions.

LATCH rigid-mounted attachment
When installing a child restraint, carefully read and follow the instructions in this Owner’s Manual and in the child restraint manufacturer’s guide.
Top tether anchor
WARNING
Secure all cargo properly so that it does not come into contact with the top tether strap when the strap is attached to the top tether anchor. Unsecured cargo touching the top tether strap during a collision may damage the strap. If the cargo cover (if so equipped) contacts the top tether strap when it is attached to the top tether anchor, remove the cargo cover from the Nissan Rogue. If it is not removed, a collision may damage the top tether strap, and your child could be seriously injured or killed.
Top tether anchor point locations
WARNING
Child restraint anchorages are designed only for the loads from correctly fitted child restraints. Under no circumstances should they be used to attach adult seat belts or any other equipment to the vehicle. Doing so can damage the anchorages so that the child restraint cannot be installed properly, increasing the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.
Anchor points are located on the back side of the seatbacks.
If a child restraint has a top tether strap, it must be used when installing the restraint with LATCH lower anchors or seat belts, as specified by the child restraint manufacturer.
If you have questions about installing a top tether strap child restraint in the rear seat of your Nissan Rogue, it is recommended that you visit a NISSAN dealer for assistance.
