Component Function Check
CHECK FRONT WASHER OPERATION
When the front washer switch is turned to the ON position the front washer should operate.
Is front washer operation normal?
YES>>Washer switch circuit is normal.
NO>>Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
Diagnosis Procedure
COMBINATION SWITCH INSPECTION
Check combination switch. Refer to Symptom Table.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
CHECK FRONT AND REAR WASHER PUMP FUSE
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Check that the following fuse is not blown (open):
Location No. Capacity IPDM E/R 81 15A
Is the fuse blown (open)?
YES>>Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit.
NO>>GO TO 3.
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP RELAY OUTPUT VOLTAGE

Disconnect front and rear washer pump relay connector.
-
Ignition switch ON.
-
Check voltage between front and rear washer pump relay harness connector and ground.
(+) (−) Voltage
(Approx.)Front and rear washer pump relay Connector Terminal E39 2 Ground Battery voltage 3
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 5.
NO>>GO TO 4.
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP RELAY CIRCUIT 1

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect IPDM E/R connector.
-
Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and front and rear washer pump relay harness connector.
IPDM E/R Front and rear washer pump relay Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E121 43 E39 2 Yes 3 -
Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.
IPDM E/R (—) Continuity Connector Terminal E121 43 Ground No
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP RELAY CIRCUIT 2

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Connect front and rear washer pump relay connector.
-
Ignition switch ON.
-
Check voltage between front and rear washer pump relay harness connector and ground.

(Approx.)Front and rear washer pump relay Connector Terminal E39 4 Ground Front washer switch ON 0 V OFF Battery voltage
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 7.
NO>>GO TO 6.
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP RELAY CIRCUIT 3

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect IPDM E/R connector and front and rear washer pump relay connector.
-
Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and front and rear washer pump relay harness connector.
IPDM E/R Front and rear washer pump relay Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E119 5 E39 4 Yes -
Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.
IPDM E/R (—) Continuity Connector Terminal E119 5 Ground No
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP RELAY
Check front washer pump relay. Refer to Component Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 8.
NO>>Replace front washer pump relay.
CHECK FRONT AND REAR WASHER PUMP CIRCUIT 1

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect front and rear washer pump connector and front and rear washer pump relay connector.
-
Check continuity between front and rear washer pump harness connector and front and rear washer pump relay harness connector.
Front and rear washer pump Front and rear washer pump relay Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E41 2 E39 1 Yes -
Check continuity between front and rear washer pump relay harness connector and ground.
Front and rear washer pump relay (—) Continuity Connector Terminal E39 1 Ground No
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 9.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
CHECK FRONT AND REAR WASHER PUMP CIRCUIT 2

Check continuity between front and rear washer pump harness connector and front and rear washer pump relay harness connector.

Check continuity between front and rear washer pump relay harness connector and ground.
Front and rear washer pump relay (—) Continuity Connector Terminal E39 6 Ground No
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 10.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
CHECK REAR WASHER PUMP RELAY
Check rear washer pump relay. Refer to Component Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 11.
NO>>Replace rear washer pump relay.
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP GROUND OPEN CIRCUIT
Check continuity between front and rear washer pump relay harness connector and ground.

YES>>Replace front and rear washer pump. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Component Inspection
CHECK FRONT WASHER PUMP RELAY

Ignition switch OFF.

Disconnect front washer pump relay connector.
-
Check continuity between front washer pump relay terminals.
Front washer pump relay Condition Continuity Terminals 1 2 12 V direct current supply between terminals 3 and 4. Yes No current supply No 5 12 V direct current supply between terminals 3 and 4. No No current supply Yes
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Inspection End.
NO>>Replace front washer pump relay.
