Component Function Check

CHECK THE ILLUMINATION OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WARNING LAMP

Check that the electric power steering warning lamp turns ON when ignition switch ON. Then, electric power steering warning lamp turns OFF after the engine is started.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Perform trouble diagnosis. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

CONSULT

  1. Pull the parking brake switch.

    NOTE:

    Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.

  2. Ignition switch OFF.

  3. Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.

  4. Wait 65 seconds.

    NOTE:

    • Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

    • If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake indicator light on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator light on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

  5. Ignition switch ON.

  6. Perform self diagnosis for “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WARNING LAMP SIGNAL

CONSULT

  1. Select “EPS/Direct Adaptive steering 3”, “Data Monitor” and “EPS WARNING” in this order.

  2. Check that the item is “On”.

  3. Start the engine.

    CAUTION:

    Never drive the Nissan Ariya vehicle.

  4. Check that the item is “Off”.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for combination meter power supply circuit. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check the power steering control module terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace the power steering control module (steering gear assembly). Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair/replace harness, connector or terminal.
