Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Service Manual: Distance Sensor Inspection

Work Procedure

CAUTION:

In the following conditions, the distance sensor may not perform optimally.

  • Attaching stickers or installing aftermarket parts around the distance sensor.

  • Repairs performed by the customer.

  • Scratches, bird droppings, insects, mud, etc., around the distance sensor.

  • When the area around the distance sensor is damaged due to a collision or similar incident.

  • When visibility is poor due to bad weather (rain, snow, fog, etc.).

  • When water, snow, sand, etc., are being splashed up by the Nissan Ariya vehicle in front or oncoming vehicles.

  • When snow, ice, mud, etc., are attached around the distance sensor.

Work Procedure

CHECK OF THE FRONT BUMPER

Check for dirt or foreign objects around the distance sensor on the front bumper.

Is there any dirt or foreign objects attached?

YES>>

Remove any dirt or foreign objects around the distance sensor on the front bumper.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK OF THE DISTANCE SENSOR

  1. Remove the front bumper. Refer to Removal and Installation.

  2. Check for dirt or foreign objects attached to the distance sensor.

Is there any dirt or foreign objects attached?

YES>>

Remove any dirt or foreign objects from the distance sensor.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK THE DISTANCE SENSOR AND BRACKET.

Check for damage to the distance sensor or bracket.

Is there any damage to the distance sensor or bracket?

YES>>

Repair or replace the damaged parts and perform distance sensor alignment.

  • Distance sensor removal and installation. Refer to Removal and Installation.

  • Distance sensor adjustment. Refer to Work Procedure.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

PERFORM DISTANCE SENSOR ALIGNMENT

Perform the distance sensor alignment. Refer to Work Procedure.

GO TO 5.

CHECK THE WARNING MESSAGES

Check if there are any warning messages related to the distance sensor displayed on the Nissan Ariya vehicle information display.

Are there any warning messages related to the distance sensor displayed?

YES>>

Replace the distance sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

GO TO 6.

INTERVIEW FOR MALFUNCTION

  1. Check if there was any possibility of dirt or foreign objects being attached around the distance sensor on the front bumper.

  2. Check if there was any possibility of driving in snowfall or frost covering around the distance sensor on the front bumper.

  3. Check if there was any possibility of temporary fogging around the distance sensor on the front bumper (for example, if the front windshield was also prone to fogging).

Is there a possibility that the above situation occurred?

YES>>

Explain to the customer the difference between the dirt detection function and the display when an abnormality is detected, and inform them that "it is not an abnormality."

NO>>

Replace the distance sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.
