OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

(Oil temperature sensor)
Diagnosis condition
  • Ignition switch: ON

  • Nissan Ariya Vehicle running

Signal Transfer oil temperature signal (terminal #2)
Threshold Transfer oil temperature value is too high
Diagnosis delay time

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Malfunction of transfer oil temperature sensor

  • Transfer oil temperature sensor circuit. (Sensor circuit is shorted)

FAIL-SAFE

Although AWD control is canceled, the vehicle can drive at 2WD condition.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PRECONDITIONING

If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always place ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

GO TO 2.

DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Drive at 10 km/h (6 MPH) or more for approximately 5 minutes in urban areas.

  3. Stop the Nissan Ariya vehicle.

  4. Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “AWD/4WD”.

Is DTC “C1215-12” detected?

YES>>

Proceed to diagnosis procedure. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connector.

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect AWD control unit harness connector.

  2. Check the continuity between AWD control unit harness connector and transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between AWD control unit harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness or connector.

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR SIGNAL

  1. Connect AWD control unit harness connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

    CAUTION:

    Never start the engine.

  3. Check the voltage between transfer oil temperature sensor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Replace the AWD control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK TRANSFER OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

Check transfer oil temperature sensor. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Replace transfer oil temperature sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

  • Check AWD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

  • Check transfer oil temperature sensor pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

After placing the ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1215-12” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the AWD control unit. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly .

NO>>

Repair or replace damaged parts.
