Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK STOP LAMP OPERATION

Check that stop lamp is turned ON/OFF when the brake pedal is depressed/released.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Check stop lamp circuit. Refer to Component Function Check.

CHECK STOP LAMP RELAY FUSE

Check that the following fuse is not blown (open):

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit if a fuse is blown (open).

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK STOP LAMP RELAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect stop lamp relay connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Check voltage between stop lamp relay harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK STOP LAMP RELAY

Check stop lamp relay. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Replace stop lamp relay.

CHECK STOP LAMP RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect chassis control module connector.

  3. Check continuity between chassis control module harness connector and stop lamp relay harness connector.

  4. Check continuity between chassis control module harness connector and ground.

    Chassis control module — Continuity

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK STOP LAMP POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 1

  1. Disconnect rear combination lamp (body side) connector.

  2. Check continuity between rear combination lamp (body side) harness connector and stop lamp relay harness connector.

  3. Check continuity between stop lamp relay harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace chassis control module. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

Component Inspection

CHECK STOP LAMP RELAY

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect stop lamp relay connector.

  3. Check continuity between stop lamp relay terminals.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace stop lamp relay.
