Component Function Check

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP OPERATION

  1. Start the engine.

  2. With operating the shift selector, check that the back-up lamp is turned ON.

    Shift selector position: R range : Back-up lamp ON
    Shift selector position: Other than above : Back-up lamp OFF

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Back-up lamp circuit is normal.

NO>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP BULB

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check the back-up lamp bulb.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Replace the corresponding rear combination lamp (back door side) bulb. Refer to Replacement.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY FUSE

Check that the following fuse is not blown (open):

Ignition switch power supply IPDM E/R 71 10 A

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit if a fuse is blown (open).

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY POWER SUPPLY

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Check voltage between IPDM E/R harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector and back-up lamp relay connector.

  3. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and back-up lamp relay harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY

Check back-up lamp relay. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Replace back-up lamp relay.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL

  1. Connect IPDM E/R connector and back-up lamp relay connector.

  2. Start the engine.

  3. With operating the shift selector, check voltage between BCM harness connector and ground.

    With type A meter

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 8.

NO-1>>

Fixed at 0 V: GO TO 7.

NO-2>>

Fixed at battery voltage: Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect BCM connector and back-up lamp relay connector.

  3. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and back-up lamp relay harness connector.

    With type A meter

  4. Check continuity between BCM harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 1

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect rear combination lamp (back door side) connector and back-up lamp relay connector.

  3. Check continuity between rear combination lamp (back door side) harness connector and back-up lamp relay harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 9.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT

Check continuity between rear combination lamp (back door side) harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check corresponding rear combination lamp (back door side) sub harness, if there is a malfunction, repair or replace. If there is no malfunction, replace the corresponding rear combination lamp (back door side) bulb. Refer to Replacement.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.

Component Inspection

CHECK BACK-UP LAMP RELAY

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect back-up lamp relay connector.

  3. Check continuity between back-up lamp relay terminals.
