EGR A FLOW INSUFFICIENT

(EGR A flow insufficient detected)
Diagnosis condition
Signal (terminal)
Threshold ECM detects that the difference between the differential pressure value (between before and behind the EGR volume control valve) calculated based on intake air amount and the estimated EGR differential pressure sensor output value is equal to or less than the specified lower limit value for 6 seconds.
Diagnosis delay time

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • EGR differential pressure sensor hose clogging

  • EGR differential pressure sensor hose disconnection

  • EGR differential pressure sensor tube clogging

  • EGR differential pressure sensor tube disconnection

  • EGR cooler clogging

  • EGR guide tube clogging

  • EGR guide tube disconnection

FAIL-SAFE

  • This mode fixes the electric IVT control actuator and the EVT control solenoid valve in the reference position.

  • A control signals is not transmitted to the EGR volume control valve and the EGR volume control is deactivated.

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0401 is displayed with the following DTC, perform the trouble diagnosis for the applicable DTC.

  • P0101

  • P0103

  • P0407

  • P0408

  • P046E

  • P0486

If applicable DTC detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P0101: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0103: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0407: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0408: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P046E: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0486: Refer to DTC Description.

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TEST CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at idle.

GO TO 3.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Drive the Nissan Ariya vehicle and accelerate from 50 km/h (32 MPH) to 80 km/h (50 MPH) within 15 seconds under the following conditions.

    Intake air temperature 0°C (32°F) or more
    Engine coolant temperature 75°C (167°F) or more

    CAUTION:

    Always drive at safe speed.

  2. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is 1st trip DTC detected?

YES>>

Proceed to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P0401 is displayed with the following DTC, perform the trouble diagnosis for the applicable DTC.

  • P0101

  • P0103

  • P0407

  • P0408

  • P046E

  • P0486

If applicable DTC detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P0101: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0103: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0407: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0408: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P046E: Refer to DTC Description.

  • DTC P0486: Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK EGR VOLUME CONTROL VALVE

Check the EGR volume control valve. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Replace EGR volume control valve. Refer to ComponentPartsLocation.
