Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Overview

The ProPILOT Assist suite available on the Nissan Rogue is a hands-on driver-assistance technology designed primarily for limited-access highways. Its purpose is to help the vehicle stay centered in its lane and maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead. Depending on configuration, the system on the Nissan Rogue is available in three levels with the following capabilities:

ProPILOT Assist:

  • Intelligent Cruise Control
  • Steering Assist

ProPILOT Assist 1.1 (if equipped):

  • Speed Adjust by Route
  • Speed Limit Assist
  • Extended Stop function

ProPILOT Assist 2.1 (if equipped):

  • HD-map-enhanced Steering Assist
  • Lane Change Assist
  • Passing Assist

NOTE:

A subscription is required to enable ProPILOT Assist 2.1 features on the Nissan Rogue.

To determine if your Nissan Rogue is equipped:

Vehicles with ProPILOT Assist or ProPILOT Assist 1.1 have the steering wheel shown below and a single roof-mounted antenna.

WARNING

The following warnings apply to the full ProPILOT Assist suite — including ProPILOT Assist, ProPILOT Assist 1.1, ProPILOT Assist 2.1, Intelligent Cruise Control, Steering Assist, Lane Change Assist, Passing Assist, Driver Monitoring System, and conventional cruise control — collectively referred to as “ProPILOT Assist systems.”

  • Improper use of any ProPILOT Assist system on the Nissan Rogue may lead to a serious accident causing injury or death.
  • Always remain attentive and read the Owner’s Manual before relying on these systems. They cannot prevent collisions or react to emergencies for you.
  • Use ProPILOT Assist only under appropriate traffic and road conditions.
  • The systems are intended exclusively for highway use, not for city or rural driving.
  • ProPILOT Assist does not make the Nissan Rogue a self-driving vehicle. It provides assistance only within the limits described in this manual.
  • The driver must remain responsible for safe driving at all times. These systems do not replace attentive control of the vehicle.
  • ProPILOT Assist systems are driver aids, not collision-avoidance systems. Never rely solely on them to detect hazards.
  • The systems have operational limitations. Weather, road conditions, visibility, or traffic situations can all reduce performance.
  • Never unfasten your seat belt when using ProPILOT Assist — doing so immediately cancels system operation.
  • Always obey posted speed limits and do not set the cruise speed beyond them.
  • Pressing the accelerator overrides automatic braking and distance control. The driver must manage speed manually to maintain a safe following distance.
  • Steering Assist helps keep the Nissan Rogue centered in its lane, but it will not steer around obstacles or avoid vehicles encroaching from the side.
  • Lane Change Assist and Passing Assist only assist movement toward a new lane; they do not prevent collisions. Keep your hands on the steering wheel.
  • Conventional cruise control does not detect vehicles ahead. No warning chime will sound if following distance becomes unsafe.
  • Never use conventional cruise control where maintaining a constant speed is unsafe — such as in heavy traffic, winding roads, steep hills, slippery surfaces, or strong winds.
