Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Other supplemental front-impact air bag precautions
WARNING
- Do not place any objects on the steering wheel pad or instrument panel. Do not place objects between any occupant and the steering wheel or instrument panel. These may turn into dangerous projectiles if the front air bags deploy.
- Do not place sharp-edged objects or heavy items on the seat that can leave permanent impressions. Such items may damage the seat or the weight sensors of the occupant classification system, affecting proper air bag operation.
- Do not use water or acidic cleaners (including hot steam) on the seat. These can damage the seat or the weight sensors, affecting proper air bag function.
- After inflation, several front air bag components will be extremely hot. Do not touch them to avoid severe burns.
- Do not modify any wiring or components of the supplemental air bag system. Unauthorized modifications can cause accidental deployment or disable the system.
- Do not alter your vehicle’s electrical system, suspension, or front structure. Such changes can impair proper air bag operation.
- Do not place materials over the steering wheel pad, instrument panel, or install extra trim around air bag modules. This may interfere with deployment and cause injury.
- Removing or modifying the front passenger seat may impair the air bag system and result in serious injury.
- Do not modify the front passenger seat by placing material on the cushion or installing non-approved seat covers. Do not store objects under the seat, seat cushion, or seatback, as they may affect the weight sensors.
- Do not make unauthorized changes to the seat belt system, as this can affect front air bag performance.
- It is recommended you visit a NISSAN dealer for any service involving or near the air bag system. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) wiring harnesses* must not be modified or disconnected. Unauthorized diagnostic tools should not be used.
- A cracked windshield should be replaced immediately at a qualified repair facility, as it may affect the air bag system’s operation.
*SRS wiring harness connectors are color-coded yellow and orange for easy identification.
When selling your Nissan Rogue, inform the new owner about the front air bag system and guide them to the appropriate sections of this Owner’s Manual.
