Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect drive mode select switch harness connector and BCM harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between drive mode select switch harness connector and BCM harness connector.

    2WD models with type B meter

  4. Also check harness for short to ground and to power.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair / replace harness or connector.

CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT

Check the continuity between drive mode select switch harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair / replace harness or connector.

CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH

Check drive mode select switch. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Component Inspection

2WD models

CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect drive mode select switch harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between drive mode select switch terminals as follows.

    Drive mode select switch Condition Continuity
    Terminals
    1 2 Switch to down-position. Existed
    Other than the above. Not existed
    6 Switch to up-position. Existed
    Other than the above. Not existed

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Replace drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.

AWD models

CHECK DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH

  1. Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Check the indicator of AUTO on drive mode select switch indicator.

  4. Check the illuminated position changes according to the operation when switching the drive mode select switch.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Replace drive mode select switch. Refer to Removal and Installation.
