DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
PRECONDITIONING
-
Pull the parking brake switch.
NOTE:
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.
-
Wait 65 seconds.
NOTE:
-
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.
-
If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake indicator light on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator light on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

GO TO 2.
DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE
CONSULT
-
Start the engine.
CAUTION:
Never drive the Nissan Ariya vehicle.
-
Perform self diagnosis for “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”.
Is DTC “C1615-4B” detected?
YES>>Proceed to diagnosis procedure. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
NO-1>>To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO-2>>Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.
Diagnosis Procedure
CHECK THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE SIGNAL (1)
CONSULT
-
Start the engine.
CAUTION:
Never drive the Nissan Ariya vehicle.
-
Turn steering wheel from full left stop to full right stop.
-
Select “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”, “Data Monitor” and “Assist level” in this order.
Does the item in “Data monitor” indicate “99%”?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>GO TO 3.
PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS
CONSULT
-
Ignition switch OFF to ON.
-
Erase self diagnosis results for “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”.
-
Pull the parking brake switch.
NOTE:
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.
-
Wait 65 seconds.
NOTE:
-
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.
-
If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake indicator light on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator light on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

Start the engine.

Is DTC “C1615–4B” detected?
YES>>Replace the power steering control module (steering gear assembly). Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Check terminals and connection of each harness connector for malfunctioning conditions.
CHECK THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE SIGNAL (2)
CONSULT
-
Select “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”, “Data Monitor” and “Assist level” in this order
-
Stop the EPS system until the item becomes “99%”.
NOTE:
While stopping the EPS system, do not turn steering wheel.
-
Check that the symptom continues.
Does the symptom continue?
YES>>Replace the power steering control module (steering gear assembly). Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>The assist torque decreases because of protection function. This is not malfunction. Inspection End.
