Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Basic information
WARNING
- Radio waves from the Nissan Rogue Intelligent Key may interfere with electric medical equipment. Users with pacemakers should consult the manufacturer about possible effects.
- The Intelligent Key emits radio waves when buttons are pressed. FAA guidelines warn that these signals may affect aircraft navigation systems. Do not use the Intelligent Key onboard aircraft, and ensure the buttons are not accidentally pressed during a flight.
The Nissan Rogue Intelligent Key system allows remote locking and unlocking using the key fob or request switch (if equipped), without removing the key from a pocket or bag.
Environmental conditions may affect Intelligent Key performance, so it is important to understand the factors that can influence operation.
CAUTION
- Always carry the Intelligent Key when operating the Nissan Rogue.
- Never leave the Intelligent Key inside the Nissan Rogue when exiting the vehicle.
The Intelligent Key continuously exchanges low-power radio signals with the vehicle. These signals may be disrupted under the following conditions:
- Near strong radio signal sources such as TV towers, power stations, or broadcast antennas.
- When carrying wireless devices like mobile phones, CB radios, or transceivers.
- When the key is touching or covered by metal objects.
- When other remote-control devices operate nearby.
- When the key is placed near electronic appliances like personal computers.
- When the Nissan Rogue is parked close to parking meters or similar devices.
In such situations, adjust the surrounding conditions before using the Nissan Rogue Intelligent Key system, or operate the vehicle using the mechanical key instead.
The battery life of the Intelligent Key varies depending on usage and environment, but on average, it lasts for approximately 2 years.
If the battery becomes weak or fully discharged, replace it with a new battery to ensure proper Nissan Rogue key functionality.
When the Intelligent Key battery is low, a warning indicator will appear on the Nissan Rogue information display.
Because the Intelligent Key constantly receives radio signals, storing it near devices that emit strong electromagnetic noise—such as televisions, wireless routers, or personal computers—can shorten its battery life.
Up to four Intelligent Keys can be registered for a single Nissan Rogue. For purchasing or registering additional keys, it is recommended to contact a NISSAN dealer.
CAUTION
- Avoid exposing the Intelligent Key to water or salt water, as its internal electronics may be damaged.
- Do not drop the Intelligent Key.
- Do not hit or strike the key against hard objects.
- Do not modify or disassemble the Intelligent Key.
- If the key becomes wet, wipe it immediately and allow it to dry completely.
- In temperatures below 14°F (−10°C), the Nissan Rogue Intelligent Key battery may not function correctly.
- Avoid storing the key in areas where temperatures exceed 140°F (60°C).
- Do not attach the key to holders that contain magnets.
- Keep the Intelligent Key away from electronic devices that generate magnetic fields, including TVs, computers, audio systems, mobile phones, and wireless chargers.
If an Intelligent Key is lost or stolen, NISSAN recommends erasing its ID code from the Nissan Rogue system to prevent unauthorized vehicle access.
Erasing the Intelligent Key ID will disable that key permanently, helping protect the vehicle from misuse.
For details about key ID erasure, contact a NISSAN dealer for assistance.
For vehicles equipped with request switches, the Intelligent Key functionality can also be disabled. For more information about disabling the Nissan Rogue Intelligent Key system, consult your NISSAN dealer.
