Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK NETWORK DIAGNOSIS

Check the "Network diagnosis" results from CONSULT to see that the diagnostic CAN communication circuit have no malfunction.

Are the diagnostic CAN communication circuit normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Check and repair diagnostic CAN communication circuit.

CONNECTOR INSPECTION

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

  3. Disconnect all the control unit connectors on Nissan Ariya vehicle CAN communication 4 circuit.

  4. Check the terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES-1>>

With type B meter: GO TO 3.

YES-2>>

With type A meter: GO TO 7.

NO>>

Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the 8CH CAN gateway harness connector and BCM harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SHORT CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the 8CH CAN gateway harness connector terminals.

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SHORT CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the 8CH CAN gateway and the ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace (if shield line is short) the root cause.

CHECK 8CH CAN gateway AND BCM TERMINATION CIRCUIT

  1. Remove the 8CH CAN gateway and the BCM.

  2. Check the resistance between the 8CH CAN gateway terminals.

  3. Check the resistance between the BCM terminals.

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES>>

GO TO 11.

NO (BCM)>>

Replace the BCM.

NO (8CH CAN gateway)>>

GO TO 13.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the 8CH CAN gateway harness connector and BCM harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 8.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.

Check the continuity between the 8CH CAN gateway harness connector terminals.

Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.

YES>>

GO TO 10.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace (if shield line is short) the root cause.

CHECK 8CH CAN GATEWAY AND BCM TERMINATION CIRCUIT

  1. Remove the 8CH CAN gateway and the BCM.

  2. Check the resistance between the 8CH CAN gateway terminals.

  3. Check the resistance between the BCM terminals.

    BCM Resistance (Ω)

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES>>

GO TO 11.

NO>>

Replace the BCM and/or the 8CH CAN gateway.

CHECK SYMPTOM

Connect all the connectors. Check if the symptoms described in the “Symptom (Results from interview with customer)” are reproduced.

Inspection result

Reproduced>>

GO TO 12.

Non-reproduced>>

Start the diagnosis again. Follow the trouble diagnosis procedure when past error is detected.

CHECK UNIT REPRODUCTION

Perform the reproduction test as per the following procedure for each unit.

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

  3. Disconnect one of the unit connectors of Nissan Ariya vehicle CAN communication 4 circuit.

    NOTE:

    8CH CAN gateway and BCM have a termination circuits. Check other units first.

  4. Connect the battery cable to the negative terminal. Check if the symptoms described in the “Symptom (Results from interview with customer)” are reproduced.

    NOTE:

    Although unit-related error symptoms occur, do not confuse them with other symptoms.

Inspection result

Reproduced>>

Connect the connector. Check other units as per the above procedure.

Non-reproduced>>

Replace the unit whose connector was disconnected.

CHECK WARNING LAMP

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

  2. Check the following warning lamp.

    • VDC warning lamp

    • Brake warning lamp

    • Power steering warning lamp

    • Engine oil pressure warning lamp

Is any of the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

GO TO 14.

CHECK NAVIGATION SYSTEM OPERATION

Check navigation system operation.

NOTE:

Navigation system is not applied: Replace the 8CH CAN gateway.
