DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

DTC No. CONSULT screen terms DTC detection condition
U218B 83 CAN communication error [12V sub battery (Lithium ion battery)] Diagnosis condition When ignition switch is ON.
Signal (terminal) CAN communication signal
Threshold 12V sub battery (Lithium ion battery) in malfunctioning.
Diagnosis delay time 2 seconds or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • CAN communication system

  • 12V sub battery (Lithium ion battery)

FAIL-SAFE

Normal control

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PRECONDITIONING

If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

GO TO 2.

CHECK DTC DETECTION

With CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch OFF to ON.

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to wait of 10 seconds after ignition switch OFF or ON.

  2. Perform self-diagnosis for “CHASSIS CONTROL”.

Is DTC “U218B-83” detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

  1. Erase self-diagnosis result for “CHASSIS CONTROL”.

  2. Ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 seconds or more.

  3. Ignition switch ON.

  4. Perform self-diagnosis for “CHASSIS CONTROL”.

Is DTC “U218B-83” detected?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

INSPECTION END

CHECK LI-ION BATTERY CONTROLLER SYSTEM (1)

With CONSULT

  1. Erase self-diagnosis result for “Lithium ion battery 12V”.

  2. Ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 seconds or more.

  3. Ignition switch ON.

  4. Perform self-diagnosis for “Lithium ion battery 12V”.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK 12V SUB BATTERY (LITHIUM ION BATTERY) SYSTEM (2)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect 12V sub battery (Lithium ion battery) harness connector.

  3. Check 12V sub battery (Lithium ion battery) harness connector terminals (CAN communication line) for damage or loose connection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal. GO TO 4.

ERASE SELF-DIAGNOSIS RESULT

With CONSULT

  1. Connect 12V sub battery (Lithium ion battery) harness connector.

  2. Erase self-diagnosis result for “CHASSIS CONTROL”.

  3. Ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 seconds or more.

INSPECTION END
