Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Seat belt warning light and chime

Nissan Rogue. Seat belts

The seat belt warning light and chime remind the occupants of the Nissan Rogue to fasten the driver, front passenger, and rear passenger seat belts. A visual and audible alert activates under the following conditions:

  • The driver’s seat belt is not fastened.
  • The front passenger’s seat belt is not fastened, and the seat is occupied for several seconds after the ignition switch is turned ON.
  • The front passenger’s seat belt is not fastened, and objects or pressure change the seat belt reminder classification to “occupied.”
  • Any rear passenger’s seat belt changes from fastened to unfastened.

For additional information, see:

  • “Seat belt warning light and chime”
  • “Rear seat belt warning”

The following conditions may trigger the seat belt visual and audible alert even when no occupant is present in the front passenger seat:

  • Heavy objects placed on the seat.
  • Someone pushing or pulling on the front passenger seat.
  • Objects placed under the seat.
  • Items wedged between the seat cushion and the center console or door.
  • Objects hanging on the seat or placed in the seatback pocket.
  • A child restraint or other item pressing on the seatback.

The rear seat belt reminder may activate if rear seat belts are used without any passengers seated.

Pregnant women

NISSAN recommends that pregnant women use seat belts. The belt must fit snugly, with the lap belt positioned as low as possible around the hips — never across the abdomen. The shoulder belt should go over the shoulder and across the chest.

Never place the lap/shoulder belt over the stomach area. Consult a doctor for personalized recommendations.

Injured persons

NISSAN recommends that injured persons wear seat belts when appropriate, depending on the type of injury.

Consult your doctor for specific guidance.
