Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Rear Door Alert
The Rear Door Alert system helps remind the driver to check the rear seat(s) before leaving the Nissan Rogue. Under certain conditions, the system indicates that an object or passenger may still be in the rear seat.
The Rear Door Alert system is initially disabled.
The driver can enable the system through the vehicle information display.
When the system is enabled:
- The system activates when a rear door is opened and then closed. When the vehicle is started, an activation message appears in the vehicle information display.
- If a rear door is opened and closed but the vehicle is never driven, the system does not activate. A rear door must be opened and closed, and the vehicle must be driven for activation.
- The activation window is approximately 10 minutes between rear door closure and vehicle startup. A longer delay does not indicate a malfunction.
When the Rear Door Alert system is activated:
- After shifting the vehicle into P (Park), a notification appears with options to “Dismiss Message” or “Disable Alert.”
- Select “Disable Alert” to turn off the reminder for that stop.
- Selecting “Dismiss Message” or making no selection keeps the alert active.
- If the alert is enabled and the driver exits the Nissan Rogue, a message will appear: “Check Rear Seat for All Articles.”
If the “Horn & Alert” setting is active:
- The horn will sound after a short delay unless a rear door is opened and closed to clear the alert.
- If the doors are locked before the alert is cleared, the horn will sound.
- If the liftgate is opened before a rear door, the horn alert will be delayed until after the liftgate is closed.
NOTE:
If “Alert Only” is selected, the notification message will appear, but the horn will not sound.
WARNING
- If “Disable Alert” is selected, no audible alert will occur, regardless of rear door usage.
- There may be times when an object or passenger is in the rear seat(s), but the audible alert does not sound — for example, when passengers enter or exit during the trip.
- The system does not directly detect objects or passengers. It only detects rear door open/close activity, which may indicate something was placed in the rear seat(s).
NOTE:
In some situations, the horn may sound even if no passengers or objects are present in the rear seat(s).
