Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Readiness for Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) test

WARNING

A vehicle equipped with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) should never be tested using a two-wheel dynamometer (like those used by some emissions testing facilities) or similar equipment. Inform the test personnel ahead of time if your vehicle is AWD, as many Nissan Rogue models are.

Using incorrect test equipment may result in transmission damage or unexpected vehicle movement, which could cause serious damage or personal injury.

Due to regional legal requirements, your vehicle may need to be in what is known as the "ready condition" for an Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) emissions test.

The vehicle reaches the "ready condition" after being driven through certain driving patterns. Under normal driving use, most Nissan Rogue vehicles achieve this state automatically.

If a powertrain component has been repaired or the battery has been disconnected, the system may reset to a "not ready condition." Before taking the vehicle for an I/M test, check the readiness state. Place the ignition switch in the ON position without starting the engine. If the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) stays on steadily for 20 seconds and then blinks for 10 seconds, the I/M condition is “not ready.”

If the MIL does not blink after 20 seconds, the I/M condition is “ready.”

It is recommended to visit a NISSAN dealer to set the “ready condition” or prepare the vehicle properly for inspection, especially for models like the Nissan Rogue.
