Diagnosis condition Engine running at idle
Signal (terminal) Ignition power supply
Threshold 1.5 V or less
Diagnosis delay time 5 second or less

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Sub starter & generator

  • Harness or connectors (Ignition power supply circuit is open or shorted.)

  • IPDM E/R

FAIL-SAFE

When the sub starter & generator rotation rises, starts even if the ignition power not supply.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Start the engine and let it idle and wait for 2 seconds or more.

  2. Select “Self diagnosis result” mode of “Sub starter & generator”.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK FUSE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check that the following fuse is not blown (open):

    Location Fusible No. Capacity
    IPDM E/R 71 10 A

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit if a fuse is blown (open).

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK IGNITION OUTPUT VOLTAGE

  1. Disconnect sub starter & generator connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Check voltage between sub starter & generator harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace sub starter & generator. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK IGNITION OUTPUT VOLTAGE CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect IPDM E/R connector.

  3. Check continuity between IPDM E/R harness connector and sub starter & generator harness connector.

  4. Check continuity between sub starter & generator harness connector and ground.

    Sub starter & generator - Continuity
    Connector Terminal
    F126 4 Ground No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair or replace harness.
