VCR shaft 2 rotation angle sensor

(Variable compression ratio shaft 2 rotation angle sensor)
Diagnosis condition Ignition switch ON
Signal (terminal) VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor signal
Threshold An excessively high voltage from the VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor signal is sent to VCR control module.
Diagnosis delay time

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connectors (VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor harness connector)

  • VCR actuator (built-in VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor)

  • VCR control module

FAIL-SAFE

Not applicable

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11AC is displayed with the following DTC, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.

Is DTC P11A0 detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable. DTC P11A0: DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING

  1. Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TESTING CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is 12 V or more with ignition switch ON.

YES>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Ignition switch ON and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is DTC P11AC detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11AC is displayed with the DTC P11A0, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the DTC P11A0.

Is DTC P11A0 detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable. Refer to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK VCR CONTROL SHAFT 2 ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR CIRCUIT

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect VCR control module and VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between VCR control module harness connector and VCR control shaft 2 rotation angle sensor harness connector.

  4. Check harness for short to power and short to ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.

CHECK VCR CONTROL SHAFT 2 ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR

Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Replace VCR actuator. Refer to Removal and Installation.
