VCR stopper position

(Variable compression ratio stopper position) 		Diagnosis condition Engine running at idle
Signal (terminal) —
Threshold Detect position gap between the stopper position (position at highest compression rate) and the learnt position.
Diagnosis delay time 40 seconds or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • VCR actuator

  • Arm slip

  • Internal gear trouble of VCR actuator

FAIL-SAFE

Not applicable

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC P11A7 is displayed with the following DTC, perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.

Is DTC P11A0, P11A2, P11A3 P11A4, P11AC, P11AD, P11AE or P11AF detected?

YES>>

Perform diagnosis of applicable.

  • DTC P11A0: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11A2: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11A3: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11A4: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11AC: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11AD: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11AE: DTC Description.

  • DTC P11AF: DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Warm up the engine to the normal operating temperature and keep the engine speed at idle for 1 minutes.

  2. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is DTC P11A7 detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK VCR ACTUATOR

Check VCR actuator visually.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK FUNCTION OF VCR SYSTEM

  1. Start engine and warm it up to the normal operating temperature.

  2. Stop the engine.

  3. Ignition switch ON.

  4. Select "VCR system" in "ACTIVE TEST" mode of "ENGINE" using CONSULT.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Replace VCR actuator.

PERFORM VCR BASE POSITION LEARNING

  1. Start engine.

  2. Perform VCR base position learning.

  3. Perform DTC confirmation procedure.

Is the DTC P11A7 displayed again?

YES>>

Replace VCR actuator. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

INSPECTION END
