PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
CONSULT

Start the engine.
-
Turn lighting switch AUTO, and wait at least 2 seconds.
-
Select “Self diagnosis result” mode of “BCM”.
-
Check DTC.
Is DTC detected?
YES>>Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.
NO-1>>To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO-2>>Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.
DTC Diagnosis Procedure
CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR POWER SUPPLY

Ignition switch ON.
-
Turn lighting switch AUTO.
-
Check voltage between optical sensor harness connector and ground.
+ - Voltage
(Approx.)Optical sensor Connector Terminal M13 1 Ground Battery voltage
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>GO TO 4.
CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR GROUND
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect optical sensor connector.
-
Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector and ground.
+ - Continuity Optical sensor Connector Terminal M13 3 Ground Yes
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 3.
NO>>GO TO 6.
CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR SIGNAL
-
Connect optical sensor connector.
-
Ignition switch ON.
-
Check voltage between optical sensor harness connector and ground.
+ - Voltage
(Approx.)Optical sensor Connector Terminal M13 2 Ground 0.1 - 4.4 V
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 7.
NO>>GO TO 8.
CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (OPEN)

Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect optical sensor connector and BCM connector.
-
Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector and BCM harness connector.
With type A meter Optical sensor BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M13 1 M58 48 Yes With type B meter Optical sensor BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M13 1 M18 28 Yes
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 5.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT (SHORT)
Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector and ground.

Disconnect optical sensor connector and BCM connector.

Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector and BCM harness connector.
With type A meter Optical sensor BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M13 3 M58 42 Yes With type B meter Optical sensor BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M13 3 M18 29 Yes
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT (OPEN)

Ignition switch OFF.

Disconnect optical sensor connector and BCM connector.
-
Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector and BCM harness connector.
With type A meter Optical sensor BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M13 2 M58 47 Yes With type B meter Optical sensor BCM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal M13 2 M18 8 Yes
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Repair or replace harness.
