DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
PRECONDITIONING
If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
-
Turn ignition switch ON.
-
Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
TEST CONDITION:
Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at ignition switch ON.
>>
GO TO 2.
PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
-
Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 5 seconds.
-
Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
YES>>DTC Diagnosis Procedure
NO-1>>To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO-2>>Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END
DTC Diagnosis Procedure
CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY
-
Turn ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor 2 harness connector.
-
Turn ignition switch ON.
-
Check the voltage between ECT sensor 2 harness connector and ground.

(Approx.)ECT sensor 2 Connector Terminal F21 2 Ground 5 V
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 2.
NO>>GO TO 4.
CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2 GROUND CIRCUIT

Turn ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect ECM harness connector.
-
Check the continuity between ECT sensor 2 harness connector and ECM harness connector.
ECT sensor 2 ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F21 1 F71 102 Existed -
Also check harness for short to ground to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 3.
NO>>Repair or replace error-detected parts.
CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2
Check the engine coolant temperature sensor 2. Refer to Component Inspection.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Check intermittent incident. Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO>>Replace engine coolant temperature sensor 2. Refer to Exploded View.
CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 2 POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

Turn ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect ECM harness connector.
-
Check the continuity between ECT sensor 2 harness connector and ECM harness connector.
ECT sensor 2 ECM Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal F21 2 F71 87 Existed -
Also check harness for short to ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>Perform the trouble diagnosis for power supply circuit.
NO>>Repair or replace error-detected parts.
