Nissan Rogue (T33) 2021-Present Owner’s Manual & User Guide: Hill Start Assist system

WARNING

  • Never rely solely on the Hill Start Assist system to keep the Nissan Rogue from rolling backward on a hill. Always remain attentive, apply the brake pedal when stopped on steep inclines, and use extra caution on icy or muddy slopes. Failure to prevent rollback could result in loss of control and serious injury or death.
  • Hill Start Assist is not designed to hold the vehicle stationary on an incline. Always keep your foot on the brake when stopped. Allowing the Nissan Rogue to roll backward may lead to a collision or personal injury.
  • The system may not prevent rollback under all road or load conditions. Be prepared to depress the brake pedal at any moment to stop the vehicle. Relying only on the system may lead to serious personal injury.

The Hill Start Assist system helps prevent the vehicle from rolling backward for a brief moment while the driver transitions from the brake pedal to the accelerator on a hill.

The system operates automatically when the following conditions are met:

  • The transmission is in a forward or reverse gear.
  • The Nissan Rogue is completely stopped on an incline while the brake is applied.

The system will hold the brakes for up to 2 seconds.

After this period, the vehicle may begin to roll backward and Hill Start Assist will fully disengage.

The Hill Start Assist system does not function when the transmission is in N (Neutral) or P (Park), or when the vehicle is on level ground.

If the slip indicator light illuminates on the meter, Hill Start Assist will not operate.
