OCCUPANT SENS UNIT

(Occupant Classification System) 		Diagnosis condition When ignition switch is ON.
Signal (terminal) Occupant detection system signal
Threshold

  • Power supply malfunction (low voltage) of occupant detection system

  • Zero point reset is incomplete

  • Malfunction of input signal from occupant detection system sensor to occupant detection system control unit
Diagnosis delay time 2 seconds or more.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Connection malfunction or short circuit to power supply of harness or connector

  • Malfunction of battery voltage (9 V or less)

  • Incomplete of zero point reset

  • Internal malfunction of occupant detection system sensor

  • Internal malfunction of air bag diagnosis sensor unit

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK SELF DIAGNOSIS RESULT

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Perform “Self diagnosis result” mode of “AIR BAG” using CONSULT.

Is malfunctioning part detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End

Diagnosis Procedure

WARNING:

  • Before servicing, ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal, and wait at least 3 minutes or more. (To discharge backup capacitor.)

  • Never use unspecified tester or other measuring device.

CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE

Check battery voltage. Refer to Work Flow.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Repair or replace the malfunctioning parts.

PERFORM ZERO POINT RESET

  1. Perform zero point reset. Refer to Description.

  2. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. Refer to DTC Description.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Inspection End

CHECK HARNESS CONNECTOR

Check the harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Replace harness connector.

CHECK WIRING HARNESS

Check the wiring harness externals.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Replace wiring harness.

REPLACE OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT

  1. Replace occupant detection system control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

  2. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. Refer to DTC Description.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Inspection End

REPLACE OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM SENSOR

  1. Replace passenger seat cushion frame. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly.

  2. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. Refer to DTC Description.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

GO TO 7.

NO>>

Inspection End

REPLACE AIR BAG DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT

  1. Replace air bag diagnosis sensor unit. Refer to Removal and Installation.

  2. Perform DTC confirmation procedure. Refer to DTC Description.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

GO TO 1.

NO>>
