Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK VEHICLE SPECIFICATION

Check the vehicle specification.

Which is the Nissan Ariya vehicle specification?

With ProPILOT Assist 2.1>>

GO TO 2.

Without ProPILOT Assist 2.1>>

GO TO 8.

CHECK CAN DIAGNOSIS

Check the "Network Diagnosis" results from CONSULT to see that the ITS CAN communication 1 circuit, ITS CAN communication 4 circuit and diagnostic CAN communication circuit have no malfunction.

Are the ITS CAN communication 1 circuit, ITS CAN communication 4 circuit and diagnostic CAN communication circuit normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Check and repair ITS CAN communication 1 circuit, ITS CAN communication 4 circuit and/or diagnostic CAN communication circuit.

CONNECTOR INSPECTION

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

  3. Disconnect all the control unit connectors on chassis CAN communication 2 circuit.

  4. Check the terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the ADAS control unit 2 harness connector and ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.

Check the continuity between the ADAS control unit 2 harness connector terminals.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace the root cause.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SHORT CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the ADAS control unit 2 and the ground.

YES>>

GO TO 7.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace (if shield line is short) the root cause.

CHECK ADAS CONTROL UNIT 2 AND ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) TERMINATION CIRCUIT

  1. Remove the ADAS control unit 2 and the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).

  2. Check the resistance between the ADAS control unit 2 terminals.

  3. Check the resistance between the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) terminals.

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES>>

GO TO 14.

NO>>

Replace the ADAS control unit 2 and/or the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).

  • ADAS control unit 2: Removal and Installation

  • ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit): Removal and Installation

CHECK CAN DIAGNOSIS

Check the CAN diagnosis results from CONSULT to see that the chassis CAN communication 4 circuit, chassis CAN communication 6 circuit (with dynamic digital suspension and electronic air suspension) and diagnostic CAN communication circuit have no malfunction.

Are the chassis CAN communication 4 circuit, chassis CAN communication 6 circuit (with dynamic digital suspension and electronic air suspension) and diagnostic CAN communication circuit normal?

YES>>

GO TO 9.

NO>>

Check and repair chassis CAN communication 4 circuit, chassis CAN communication 6 circuit (with dynamic digital suspension and electronic air suspension) and/or diagnostic CAN communication circuit.

CONNECTOR INSPECTION

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

  3. Disconnect all the control unit connectors on chassis CAN communication 2 circuit.

  4. Check the terminals and connectors for damage, bend and loose connection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 10.

NO>>

Repair the terminal and connector.

CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (OPEN CIRCUIT)

Check the continuity between the chassis control module harness connector and ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) harness connector.

GO TO 11.

NO>>

GO TO 13.

NO>>

Check the harness and repair or replace (if shield line is short) the root cause.

CHECK CHASSIS CONTROL MODULE AND ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) TERMINATION CIRCUIT

  1. Remove the chassis control module and the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).

  2. Check the resistance between the chassis control module terminals.

  3. Check the resistance between the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) terminals.

Is the measurement value within the specification?

YES>>

GO TO 14.

NO>>

Replace the chassis control module and/or the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).

  • Chassis control module: Removal and Installation

  • ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit): Removal and Installation

CHECK SYMPTOM

Connect all the connectors. Check if the symptoms described in the “Symptom (Results from interview with customer)” are reproduced.

GO TO 15.

Non-reproduced>>

Start the diagnosis again. Follow the trouble diagnosis procedure when past error is detected.

CHECK UNIT REPRODUCTION

Perform the reproduction test as per the following procedure for each unit.

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

  3. Disconnect one of the unit connectors of chassis CAN communication 2 circuit.

    NOTE:

    • ADAS control unit 2 and ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) have a termination circuits. Check other units first. (With ProPILOT Assist 2.1)

    • Chassis control module and ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) have a termination circuits. Check other units first. (Without ProPILOT Assist 2.1)

  4. Connect the battery cable to the negative terminal. Check if the symptoms described in the “Symptom (Results from interview with customer)” are reproduced.

    NOTE:

    Although unit-related error symptoms occur, do not confuse them with other symptoms.

Connect the connector. Check other units as per the above procedure.

Non-reproduced>>

Replace the unit whose connector was disconnected.
