ENGINE SIGNAL

(Engine signal) 		Diagnosis condition

  • Ignition switch: ON

  • Engine running
Signal Torque down impossible signal
Threshold Detected the signal malfunction related protection for AWD system.
Diagnosis delay time 2 seconds or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

The signal error related to AWD system protection

FAIL-SAFE

Although AWD control is canceled, the vehicle can drive at 2WD condition.

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PRECONDITIONING

If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always place ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

GO TO 2.

DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Drive at 10 km/h (6 MPH) or more for approximately 5 minutes in urban areas.

  3. Stop the Nissan Ariya vehicle.

  4. Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “AWD/4WD”.

Is DTC “C1210-97” detected?

YES>>

Proceed to diagnosis procedure. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSIS OF AWD CONTROL UNIT

CONSULT

  1. Erase "Self diagnosis result" mode of “AWD/4WD”.

  2. Start the engine, and wait for 15 seconds or more.

  3. Stop the engine.

  4. Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “AWD/4WD”.

Which DTC is detected?

C1210-97>>

GO TO 2.

Except C1210-97>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for detected DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

No DTC>>

Inspection End.

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSIS OF ECM

CONSULT

Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “ECM”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSIS OF TCM

CONSULT

Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “TRANSMISSION”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check AWD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is inspection result normal?

YES>>

After placing the ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “C1210-97” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the AWD control unit. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.
