[CIRC SHORT TO GRND OR OPEN] Diagnosis condition When A/C switch is ON
Signal (Terminal) ECV control signal
Threshold ECV control signal circuit is shorted to ground or open
Diagnosis delay time 25 seconds or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Fuse

  • Harness or connectors (ECV control signal circuit is shorted to ground or open)

  • A/C compressor

  • IPDM E/R

FAIL-SAFE

Inhibit A/C compressor (ECV) operation

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSIS

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Select "Self diagnosis result" mode of "IPDM E/R".

  3. Clear all stored DTCs.

  4. Ignition switch OFF.

  5. Start the engine.

  6. A/C switch ON and blower ON.

  7. Wait a few seconds.

  8. Check DTCs in IPDM E/R.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Refer to DTC Diagnosis Procedure.

NO>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK FUSE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check that the following fuse is not blown (open).

    Unit Location Fuse No. Capacity
    A/C compressor IPDM E/R 71 10 A

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK ECV POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect A/C compressor harness connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Check voltage between A/C compressor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK ECV POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.

  3. Check continuity between A/C compressor harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK ECV CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect IPDM E/R harness connector.

  3. Check continuity between A/C compressor harness connector and IPDM E/R harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK ECV CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT

Check continuity between A/C compressor harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK ECV

Check ECV. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace IPDM E/R. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Replace a/c compressor. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Component Inspection

CHECK ECV

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check continuity between A/C compressor terminals.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace a/c compressor. Refer to Removal and Installation.
