Automatic Brake Hold Switch

Component Function Check

NOTE:

Parking brake switch and automatic brake hold switch are single unit. (Indicator is integrated with switch.)

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD SWITCH INDICATOR

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Check that automatic brake hold switch indicator turns ON/OFF when automatic brake hold switch is pressed.

NOTE:

When automatic brake hold switch is pressed, the indicator turns ON, and it turns OFF when pressed again.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD INDICTOR LAMP

Check the automatic brake hold indicator lamp. Refer to Component Function Check.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

NOTE:

Parking brake switch and automatic brake hold switch are single unit. (Indicator is integrated with switch.)

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

Perform “All self diagnosis result”.

Is DTC ”ABS”, ”CHASSIS CONTROL”, ”BCM”, or ”ENGINE” detected?

YES>>

Record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD). GO TO 2.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK EACH SYSTEM

Perform the trouble diagnosis of system that DTC indicated.

  • ”ABS”: Refer to DTC Index.

  • ”CHASSIS CONTROL”

    • Without telematics system: Refer to DTC Index.

    • With telematics system: Refer to DTC Index.

  • ”BCM”: Refer to DTC Index.

  • ”ENGINE”: Refer to DTC Index.

YES>>

GO TO 7.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD SWITCH INDICATOR

  1. Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Automatic brake hold switch ON.

Is automatic brake hold switch indicator illuminated?

YES>>

Check automatic brake hold indicator lamp. Refer to Component Function Check.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check the parking brake switch harness connector for disconnection or looseness.

  3. Check the chassis control module harness connector for disconnection or looseness.

  4. Disconnect parking brake switch harness connector.

  5. Disconnect chassis control module harness connector.

  6. Check the parking brake switch harness connector terminals for damage or loose connection.

  7. Check the chassis control module harness connector terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair / replace harness, connector, or terminal. GO TO 7.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD SWITCH CIRCUIT

  1. Check the continuity between chassis control module harness connector and parking brake switch harness connector.

  2. Check the continuity between chassis control module harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Repair / replace harness or connector. GO TO 7.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD SWITCH

Check the automatic brake hold switch. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace the chassis control module. Refer to Removal and Installation. GO TO 7.

NO>>

Replace the parking brake switch (automatic brake hold switch). Refer to Removal and Installation. GO TO 7.

FINAL CHECK

Recheck the symptom and check that the symptom is not reproduced under the same conditions.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

GO TO 1.

Component Inspection

NOTE:

Parking brake switch and automatic brake hold switch are single unit. (Indicator is integrated with switch.)

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD SWITCH

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect parking brake switch harness connector.

  3. Check the continuity between terminals of automatic brake hold switch connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Replace the parking brake switch (automatic brake hold switch). Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD SWITCH INDICATOR

Apply 12 V between the parking brake switch connector terminals, and check the automatic brake hold switch indicator.

CAUTION:

  • Connect fuse between terminals when applying the voltage.

  • Never make the terminals short.

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Replace the parking brake switch (automatic brake hold switch). Refer to Removal and Installation.

Automatic Brake Hold Indicator Lamp

Component Function Check

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD INDICATOR LAMP (WHITE) FUNCTION

  1. Start the engine.

  2. Press automatic brake hold switch, and check that the indicator lamp illuminates when automatic brake hold function is changed to the standby state.

    NOTE:

    When automatic brake hold function is in the standby state, automatic brake hold indicator lamp (white) illuminates.

  3. Press automatic brake hold switch again, and check that the indicator lamp turns OFF when automatic brake hold function is OFF.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 2.

NO>>

Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD INDICATOR LAMP (GREEN) FUNCTION

  1. Check that the indicator lamp illuminates while automatic brake hold function is being applied.

    NOTE:

    Automatic brake hold indicator lamp (green) illuminates while automatic brake hold function is being applied.

  2. Check that the color of automatic brake hold indicator lamp changes from green to white when the Nissan Ariya vehicle is started and automatic brake hold function is released.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>

Proceed to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS

With CONSULT

Perform “All self diagnosis result”.

Is DTC ”ABS”, ”CHASSIS CONTROL”, ”BCM”, or ”ENGINE” detected?

YES>>

Record or print self-diagnosis results and freeze frame data (FFD). GO TO 2.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK EACH SYSTEM

Perform the trouble diagnosis of system that DTC indicated.

  • ”ABS”: Refer to DTC Index.

  • ”CHASSIS CONTROL”

    • Without telematics system: Refer to DTC Index.

    • With telematics system: Refer to DTC Index.

  • ”BCM”: Refer to DTC Index.

  • ”ENGINE”: Refer to DTC Index.

GO TO 11.

CHECK AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD INDICATOR LAMP

  1. Ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Automatic brake hold switch ON.

Is automatic brake hold indicator lamp illuminated?

YES>>

Check automatic brake hold switch. Refer to Component Inspection.

NO>>

GO TO 4.

CHECK OPERATION CONDITIONS OF AUTOMATIC BRAKE HOLD FUNCTION

Check operation conditions of automatic brake hold function. Refer to System Description.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Satisfy the operating conditions. GO TO 11.

CHECK DATA MONITOR (1)

With CONSULT

Select “CHASSIS CONTROL”, “Data monitor” according this order, check the “VDC malfunction”.

  • Without telematics system: Refer to Reference Value.

  • With telematics system: Refer to Reference Value.

Is the "ON" displayed?

YES>>

GO TO 8.

NO>>

GO TO 6.

CHECK DATA MONITOR (2)

With CONSULT

Select “CHASSIS CONTROL”, “Data monitor” according this order, check the “Stop hold (VDC)”.

  • Without telematics system: Refer to Reference Value.

  • With telematics system: Refer to Reference Value.

Is the “impossible” displayed?

YES>>

GO TO 8.

NO>>

GO TO 7.

CHECK COMBINATION METER

Check the combination meter.

  • Full TFT meter: Refer to On Board Diagnosis Function.

  • 7 inch information display: Refer to On Board Diagnosis Function.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 11.

NO>>

Repair or replace combination meter. GO TO 11.

  • Full TFT meter: Refer to Removal and Installation.

  • 7 inch information display: Refer to Removal and Installation

CHECK DATA MONITOR (3)

With CONSULT

Select “CHASSIS CONTROL”, “Data monitor” according this order, check the “Accelerator pedal position”.

  • Without telematics system: Refer to Reference Value.

  • With telematics system: Refer to Reference Value.

Is the “127%” or more displayed?

YES>>

GO TO 9.

NO>>

GO TO 10.

CHECK ECM

Check the ECM. Refer to Work Flow.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 11.

NO>>

Repair or replace ECM. Refer to ECM : Removal & Installation. GO TO 11.

CHECK ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT)

Check the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to Work Flow.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 11.

NO>>

Repair or replace ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to Removal and Installation. GO TO 11.

FINAL CHECK

Recheck the symptom and check that the symptom is not reproduced under the same conditions.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

INSPECTION END

NO>>
