CAN comm err (brake control unit)

[CAN comm err (brake control unit)] 		Diagnosis condition Ignition switch ON
Signal (terminal) CAN communication signal
87 Threshold ECM is not receiving CAN communication signal other than OBD (emission related diagnosis).
Diagnosis delay time 2 seconds or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Harness or connectors (CAN communication line is open or shorted)

  • ABS actuator and electric unit

FAIL-SAFE

Not applicable

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC U2248 is displayed with DTC P0607, first perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for DTC P0607.

Is DTC P0607 detected?

YES>>

Proceed to DTC Description.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

PRECONDITIONING

If DTC Confirmation Procedure has been previously conducted, always perform the following procedure before conducting the next test.

  1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

  2. Turn ignition switch ON.

  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

TESTING CONDITION:

Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 11 V at idle.

GO TO 3.

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

  1. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 3 seconds.

  2. Check 1st trip DTC.

Is DTC U2248 detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: INSPECTION END

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK DTC PRIORITY

If DTC U2248 is displayed with DTC P0607, first perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for DTC P0607.

Is DTC P0607 detected?

YES>>

Proceed to DTC Description.

NO>>

Perform the trouble diagnosis for CAN communication system. Refer to Trouble Diagnosis Flow Chart.
