Component Function Check

CAUTION:

Before performing the diagnosis, check that the following are normal:

  • Rear seat heater LH

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH FUNCTION

  1. Start the engine.

  2. Check that rear seat heater switch LH indicator (Low, Mid, High) turns ON when operating rear seat heater switch LH.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Rear seat heater switch LH function is OK.

NO>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect rear seat heater switch LH connector.

  3. Ignition switch ON.

  4. Check voltage between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and ground.

    (Approx.)
    Rear seat heater switch LH
    Connector Terminal
    M203 5 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH SIGNAL CIRCUIT (OPEN)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect A/C switch assembly connector.

  3. Check continuity between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and A/C switch assembly harness connector.

    M203 5 M84 8 Yes

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 3.

NO>>

Repair the harness or connector.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH SIGNAL CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

Check continuity between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace A/C switch assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

Repair the harness or connector.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH GROUND CIRCUIT (OPEN)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check continuity between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and ground.

    Rear seat heater switch LH Continuity
    Connector Terminal
    M203 7 Ground Yes

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair the harness or connector.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH

Check rear seat heater switch LH. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Replace rear seat heater switch LH. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK FUSE

Check that the following fuse is not blown (open):

Ignition switch power supply Fuse block (J/B) 65 5A

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit if a fuse is blown (open).

NO>>

GO TO 7.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH INDICATOR POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE

  1. Start the engine.

  2. Check voltage between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and ground.

    M203 1 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 8.

NO>>

Repair the harness or connector.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH INDICATOR SIGNAL VOLTAGE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Connect rear seat heater switch LH connector.

  3. Start the engine.

  4. Check voltage between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 9.

NO>>

Replace the rear seat heater switch LH. Refer to Removal and Installation.

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH INDICATOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT (OPEN)

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect rear seat heater switch LH connector and A/C switch assembly connector.

  3. Check continuity between rear seat heater switch LH harness connector and A/C switch assembly harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 10.

NO>>

Repair the harness or connector.

REPLACE A/C SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Replace A/C switch assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation.

  2. Reconnect all connectors.

  3. Start the engine.

  4. Check that rear seat heater switch LH indicator (Low, Mid, High) turns ON when operating rear seat heater switch LH.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace A/C amp. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Component Inspection

CHECK REAR SEAT HEATER SWITCH LH

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Disconnect rear seat heater switch LH connector.

  3. Check continuity between rear seat heater switch LH terminals.

YES>>
