DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
PRECONDITIONING

Pull the parking brake switch.
NOTE:
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.
-
Wait 65 seconds.
NOTE:
-
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.
-
If the rear brake calipers are hot, wait up to an hour until parking brake indicator light on the switch turns OFF. Once indicator light on the switch turns OFF, move to next step.

GO TO 2.
DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE
CONSULT
-
Ignition switch ON.
-
Perform self diagnosis for “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”.
Is DTC “C161C-82” detected?
YES>>Proceed to diagnosis procedure. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.
NO-1>>To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.
NO-2>>Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.
Diagnosis Procedure
PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS
CONSULT
-
Ignition switch OFF to ON.
-
Perform self diagnosis for "ABS".
Is any DTC detected?
YES>>Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.
NO>>GO TO 2.
CHECK CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Disconnect steering angle sensor harness connector.
-
Disconnect power steering control module harness connector.
-
Check the connector for disconnection or looseness.
-
Check the terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES>>GO TO 3.
NO>>Repair or replace harness, connector, or terminal, securely lock the connector.
PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS
CONSULT
-
Connect steering angle sensor harness connector.
-
Connect power steering control module harness connector.
-
Ignition switch OFF to ON.
-
Erase self diagnosis results for “EPS/Direct Adaptive Steering 3”.
-
Pull the parking brake switch.
NOTE:
Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned ON.
-
Ignition switch OFF.
-
Get out of the Nissan Ariya vehicle and close all doors.
-
Wait 65 seconds.
NOTE:

Check to make sure that the parking brake switch indicator is turned OFF.

YES>>Replace the power steering control module (steering gear assembly). Refer to Removal and Installation.
NO>>Inspection End.
