DTC Description

DTC DETECTION LOGIC

Threshold Heated steering wheel relay control circuit is open or shorted to ground
Diagnosis delay time 1 second or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Fuse

  • Heated steering relay

  • A/C auto amp.

  • Harness or connectors (heated steering wheel relay control circuit is open or shorted to ground)

FAIL-SAFE

Heated steering wheel operation is stopped

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Power switch ON.

  2. Select “Self diagnosis result” mode of “HVAC”.

Is DTC detected?

YES>>

Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK FUSE

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check that the following fuse is not blown (open).

Heated steering wheel relay Fuse block (J/B) #62 10A
Heated steering wheel relay Fuse block (J/B) #40 10A

Is the fuse blown (open)?

YES>>

Replace the blown (open) fuse after repairing the affected circuit if a fuse is blown (open).

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT

  1. Disconnect A/C auto amp. connector.

  2. Ignition switch ON.

  3. Check voltage between A/C auto amp. harness connector and ground.

    + - Voltage
    A/C auto amp.
    Connector Terminal
    M55 56 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Replace A/C auto amp. Refer to Removal and Installation.

NO>>

GO TO 3.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR OPEN

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Remove steering heater relay.

  3. Ignition switch ON.

  4. Check voltage between steering heater relay harness connector and ground.

    + - Voltage
    Steering heater relay
    Connector Terminal
    M95 1 Ground Battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 4.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK STEERING HEATER RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Check continuity between steering heater relay harness connector and A/C auto amp. harness connector.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 5.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK HEATED STEERING RELAY RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT

Check continuity between steering heater relay harness connector and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

GO TO 6.

NO>>

Repair harness or connector.

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY

Check heated steering wheel relay. Refer to Component Inspection.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace heated steering wheel relay.

Component Inspection

CHECK HEATED STEERING WHEEL RELAY

  1. Ignition switch OFF.

  2. Remove heated steering wheel relay.

  3. Check continuity between heated wheel relay terminals.

    Heated steering wheel relay
    3 5 12 V direct current supply between terminals 1 and 2. Yes
    No current supply No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES>>

Inspection End.

NO>>

Replace heated steering wheel relay.
