CAN comm err (IPDM E/R)

[Controller area network communication error (intelligent power distribution module engine room)] 		Diagnosis condition Ignition switch: ON
Signal CAN communication signals
Threshold Not receiving CAN signal from IPDM E/R.
Diagnosis delay time 2 seconds or more

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • CAN communication system

  • IPDM E/R

FAIL-SAFE

No impact to vehicle behavior (continue normal AWD control).

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

PRECONDITIONING

If “DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE” has been previously conducted, always place ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds before conducting the next test.

>>

GO TO 2.

DTC REPRODUCTION PROCEDURE

CONSULT

  1. Ignition switch ON.

  2. Drive at 10 km/h (6 MPH) or more for approximately 5 minutes in urban areas.

  3. Stop the Nissan Ariya vehicle.

  4. Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “AWD/4WD”.

Is DTC “U215B-87” detected?

YES>>

Proceed to diagnosis procedure. Refer to Diagnosis Procedure.

NO-1>>

To check malfunction symptom before repair: Refer to Intermittent Incident.

NO-2>>

Confirmation after repair: Inspection End.

DTC Diagnosis Procedure

PERFORM SELF DIAGNOSIS OF IPDM E/R

CONSULT

Perform "Self diagnosis result" mode of “IPDM E/R”.

Is any DTC detected?

YES>>

Check the DTC. Refer to DTC Index.

NO>>

GO TO 2.

CHECK TERMINALS AND HARNESS CONNECTORS

Check AWD control unit pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

Is inspection result normal?

YES>>

After placing the ignition switch OFF, perform DTC confirmation procedure again. If DTC “U215B-87” is detected, replace actuator assembly due to the malfunction of the AWD control unit. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly.

NO>>

Repair or replace error-detected parts.
